Friends of Hughes Creek - Sassafras

Hughes Creek is part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park and a tributary of Dandenong Creek. Our current area of focus is between Mary Track, Hughes Creek Track, Robert St and Mountain Hwy. The lower sections is classed as a Mountain Grey Gum forest flanked by Stringybark eucalypts. Higher up, at 500 metres elevation, the forest transitions to Mountain Ash forest, with an area that supports a cool temperate rainforest habitat.
